Das Wirkungsfeld im ZFD ist zunehmen von Gewalt und Fragilität geprägt. Die Fachberater*innen steht vor der Herausforderung, auch unter erschwerten Sicherheitsbedingungen und hohen Belastungen leistungsfähig zu bleiben. Hierfür stehen ihnen verschiedene Instrumente der Personalbegleitung zur Verfügung, darunter auch das Coaching während der Einsatzzeit. Durch das Coachingangebot werden internationale und nationalen ZFD-Fachkräfte darin unterstützt, ihre Beratungsrolle wirksam auszuüben und persönliche Herausforderungen in ihrer Prozessbegleitung individuell zu bearbeiten. Dabei solle sie in ihrer lösungsorientierten, allparteilichen und konstruktiven Haltung gegenüber den beteiligten Akteuren und Zielgruppen gewahrt werden. Gleichzeitig soll Coaching im Sinne der Personalfürsorge dem Erhalt der eigenen psychischen Gesundheit dienen. Es soll für einen reflektierten und bewussten Umgang mit eigenen Ressourcen genutzt werden und in einem krisenhaften, unsicheren Projektumfeld dazu verhelfen, Strategien gegen Dauerbelastung zu entwickeln, um mentaler Erschöpfung vorbeugen. Der ZFD sucht qualifiziertes und erfahrendes Personal für die Zusammensetzung von zwei Coaching Pools für ZFD Fach- und Führungskräfte.

By 2030, 582 million may remain chronically undernourished, and healthy diets could remain unaffordable for 2.8 billion people. Partner countries need strategic investments in food systems and early human capital development to meet rising environmental, social, and nutritional challenges. Tight resources threaten funding for nutrition-specific interventions; expected donor cuts risk reversing progress. A renewed strategic focus and coordination (Team Europe+) are essential. Council Conclusions on Food Security and Nutrition (Dec 2024) called for Global Gateway investments in value chains and corridors under a Team Europe approach. The EU"s 360-degree Global Gateway offers additional opportunities for nutrition by creating an enabling environment for sustainable and quality investments. The Multi-Donor Action "Capacity for Nutrition 2.0" (C4N 2.0) is jointly co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH as part of the BMZ Global Programme (GP) "Knowledge and Policy Coherence for Nutrition" (KPCN). C4N 2.0 contributes to the following overall objective: "To contribute to the transition to inclusive, climate-neutral, resilient and sustainable agri-aquatic food systems". The specific objective of C4N 2.0 is "to support the nutrition and gender sensitive transformation of agri-food systems". Good nutrition is a human rights marker and a driver of health, resilience, economic development and stability. Multiple crises and competing budgets jeopardize shifts toward efforts to transform agri-food systems to support healthy and sustainable diets. Effective nutrition requires multisectoral approaches and sustained investments across sectors. Strengthened nutrition governance will be essential for advancing nutrition integration, including a reinforced Team Europe approach and enhanced multistakeholder engagement and coordination. Ensuring sustainable, resilient, and healthy diets is critical to both improve nutrition and mitigate climate change. Climate change exacerbates all forms of malnutrition via reduced yields, damaged infrastructure and heightened disease susceptibility, while today"s food systems significantly drive climate change and environmental degradation. Healthy diets are key to poverty reduction and climate adaptation/mitigation. Achieving SDG 2 within planetary boundaries requires jointly addressing the food-nutrition security, climate and gender interlinkages. Implementation challenges include low political prioritization, capacity and investment gaps, and inadequate frameworks. C4N 2.0 addresses the nutrition-climate-gender nexus to drive food systems transformation for healthy, sustainable diets. Building on N4G momentum and the EUR6.5bn Team Europe pledge, C4N 2.0 promotes nutrition integration in global, regional and national agendas, supporting climate-smart, gender-transformative policies and interventions, including via Global Gateway blended finance investments. It strengthens the alliance between the European Commission and Germany, extending to EU member states and like-minded countries (Team Europe+) for greater coherence and efficiency in line with Global Gateway. This will be achieved through 4 mutually reinforcing outputs: Output 1: Positioning - Coherent and evidence-based positions on the Nutrition-climate-gender nexus are developed to promote healthy and sustainable diets in a Team Europe+ approach. Output 2: Advisory -Increased technical capacities of INTPA, EUDs and BMZ to scale up effective, equitable, sustainable, and resilient nutrition policy responses and outreach at global, regional, and national levels. Output 3: Country support - Improved technical and institutional capacities to implement evidence-based recommendations for integrated climate- and gender-sensitive nutrition action in (SUN) partner countries. Output 4: Stakeholder Engagement - Nutrition integration is supported through civil society organisations, think tanks and academia. These outputs will be implemented through tailored technical assistance (TA), capacity development (CD), grant mechanisms, and multilevel coordination with EU and BMZ partners. The Action builds on the achievements of the first C4N phase and leverages established networks in Senegal, Kenya, and Thailand as regional hubs. C4N 2.0 has a duration of 41 months (1 April 2026 to 31 August 2029).

The project Community Driven Rural Development (CDRD) in South Sudan is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV), aiming to improve the implementation of measures with regard to climate-resilient agricultural production, food security, income generation and sustainable management of natural resources by subnational state and non-state actors. The project follows a community-based approach and contributes to improving living conditions and prospects for people in rural areas, with a special focus on the needs of women and young people. It aims at fostering a productive, diversified, climate resilient and market oriented agricultural sector by supporting local farmer groups, cooperatives, and small and medium size enterprises. The target group of the project is the rural population with a focus on agricultural households in selected communities in Yambio and Nzara in Western Equatoria State; Juba and Yei River County in Central Equatoria State; Magwi and Torit in Eastern Equatoria State; and Wau and Jur River in Western Bahr el Ghazal State. In addition, local, agro-based MSMEs with a focus on young entrepreneurs as well as women are supported. In total, the direct target group of CDRD comprises ca. 27.500 rural households, of which ca. 30 % are headed by women. 90 % of the households in the rural intervention regions live from (subsistence) agriculture and are heavily dependent on natural resources. Due to the dynamic security situation, access to beneficiaries may be limited at times. The project's intermediaries are decision-makers and technical experts in subnational administrative authorities (Bomas, payam, county, state), as well as traditional authorities. Intermediaries also include farmers' (informal and formal) POs, including agricultural cooperatives, associations, Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), Savings, Credit and Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs), private sector organizations, and civil society organizations (CSOs) of the target groups, which represent the interests of their members. Other intermediaries include agricultural and forestry/wildlife advisors from government and non-government service providers, educational institutions, and entrepreneurs of agriculturally based MSMEs who are trained to enhance their services in innovative agricultural approaches. The project includes two Multi-Donor Actions which are co-funded by the European Union, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN).

The objective of the DISM project is to support the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in exploiting international demand for responsibly extracted raw materials to create and strengthen high-potential local added value. The project contributes to significantly reducing poverty and diversifying the economy, particularly in areas around mining sites and the Lobito corridor, to reduce dependence on mining sector revenues and develop local value chains. The project is based on environmental, social, and governance standards in the mining sector in the DRC. It strengthens governance and economic development around mining exploitation in existing intervention regions, and mainly around the Lobito corridor. It also actively contributes to strengthening the capacity of civil society to promote transparency and accountability in the mining sector and increasing the mobilization of revenues from the mining sector. Under its component 2 on Economic Development in the Lobito Corridor Area, the project supports the structuring and organizational development of the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC) in Lualaba, as well as the promotion of training programs, especially for SMEs. The project aims to strengthen the FEC's position as a government interlocutor at national and provincial levels, as well as in its role as an interface for economic actors in the DRC, contributing to improving the business climate and increasing opportunities for added value creation through access to subcontracting markets for Congolese SMEs. Furthermore, through the establishment of a multi-stakeholder consultation framework, the project creates a dedicated space for dialogue, fostering synergies and the co-construction of initiatives that promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Co-led by the Federation of Congolese Enterprises (FEC) and the Ministry of Industry and SMEs, this framework will bring together public institutions, the private sector, and civil society from the provinces of Haut-Katanga and Lualaba.

Political transitions, governance changes, insurgencies, and violent extremism continue to reshape West Africa"s peace and security landscape. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) plays a critical role in coordinating regional responses to security challenges through its strategic frameworks for peace and development. These include conflict prevention and governance, alongside regional strategies addressing climate adaptation, resilience, and economic integration. Strengthening coordination, fostering inclusive engagement - including with civil society - and promoting adaptive and preventive approaches are cross-cutting themes. The European Union (EU) and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)- co-financed Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) project provides technical and financial support to ECOWAS for the strengthening of regional peace, security, and democratic governance. Service provision is ensured by regular joint planning processes with the partner. At the same time, the project is required to react flexibly to the political context. The project is active in five components: a. Conflict Prevention and Crisis Management EPSG enhances ECOWAS' ability to detect and respond to conflicts by strengthening National Centres for Coordination of Response Mechanisms (NCCRMs) and other National Peace Infrastructures (NPIs). It also supports the ECOWAS Early Warning Directorate (EWD) in improving data collection, analysis, and reporting within the ECOWAS Early Warning and Response Network (ECOWARN) system. The project reinforces ECOWAS' capacity to initiate timely interventions through the Early Response Mechanism (ERM). b. Security Sector Reform, Governance and Human Rights To strengthen accountable and citizen-focused security institutions, EPSG supports security sector reform through: Training and advisory services for security actors, parliamentary committees, and civil society organizations; strengthening democratic oversight to improve governance and transparency; and promoting human rights, addressing gender-based violence, and increasing the representation of women in security roles. c. Electoral Support and Democratic Transitions Amid political transitions and the risk of election-related violence, EPSG supports ECOWAS member states to conduct peaceful and credible elections by: Supporting Election Management Bodies (EMBs) to address gaps from past elections and facilitating training and peer-learning initiatives coordinated by the ECOWAS Electoral Assistance Division (EAD) and the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC); implementing recommendations from ECOWAS election observation missions; engaging civil society and the media to counter disinformation and prevent electoral violence; and supporting transition of member states back to a constitutional order. d. Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Agendas Recognizing the crucial role of women and youth in peacebuilding, EPSG supports the implementation of ECOWAS" WPS and YPS agendas. EPSG: Supports women and youth networks like the Network on Peace and Security for Women in West Africa (NOPSWECO) to enhance their involvement in peace processes; provides training and advocacy to increase women and youth participation in governance and conflict mediation. e. Strengthening cooperation of the regional training infrastructure in the implementation of the ECOWAS Peace and Security Architecture Funded by BMZ, this component enhances capacities of and cooperation between regional training centres of excellence such as the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and the National Defense College (NDC) and the ECOWAS Commission, in particular with respect to Peace Support Operations (PSOs). Support is focused on: Developing and implementing trainings, dialogues and research; policy development; strengthening (digital) capacities of training centres.

The Project to Support the Development of Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems in Mali (PADSAD-M) is co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany and implemented by GIZ. It contributes to the overall objective of the CRS-SANAD strategy, which supports poverty reduction, resilience of vulnerable populations, sustainable management of food and nutrition insecurity, inclusive economic growth, and improved democratic and economic governance in Mali. The specific objective is to promote sustainable and inclusive transformation of food systems in Mali through an agroecological transition that coherently integrates nutrition, gender and resource-friendly agricultural production. PADSAD-M builds on the achievements of the former PARIZON project in the Office du Niger zone while expanding its scope to address food systems transformation at local and national levels. The project is structured around two complementary axes. Axis 1 focuses on the Office du Niger region (notably M'Béwani and Molodo) and continues to support agroecological rice production and diversification of family farming systems. It aims to increase the profitability and quality of agroecological rice, strengthen processing and marketing capacities, and diversify income sources through agroecological market gardening and sustainable natural resource management. A strong emphasis is placed on women and youth, particularly within family farms and rice processing enterprises. Axis 2 is implemented within the framework of the BMZ global programme Food Systems Transformation (TES). It supports the establishment and consolidation of a national Transformation Initiative, bringing together public institutions, producer organisations, civil society, and other stakeholders. This axis focuses on joint vision building, capacity development, political and social mobilisation, and the testing and scaling of innovative, nutrition-sensitive agroecological solutions through pilot projects. Across both axes, the project promotes multi-stakeholder collaboration, learning and innovation, gender equality, nutrition-sensitive approaches, and climate- and resource-friendly practices. The project directly and indirectly reaches around 10,000 people, including approximately 5,000 producers (40% women), 50 family-run rice processing enterprises (over 80% women-led), and 15 service providers, with broader benefits for consumers and vulnerable groups. PADSAD-M is implemented from February 2025 to March 2028 with a total budget of EUR 8.2 Million, including EUR 7.0 Million from the European Union and EUR 1.2 Million from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
